Homagama police arrested a businessman and three others for obstructing police duties and attempting to forcibly release a suspect.
During the incident, a Sub-Inspector (SI) was assaulted and injured, requiring admission to Homagama Base Hospital. The suspects' attempt to release an individual detained for public nuisance due to indecent behavior under the influence of alcohol in Homagama town prompted their arrest.
Three of the suspects, alleging police assault, were hospitalized under arrest for treatment upon their request.
According to police, the detained individual was in custody when the four men stormed the police station in an attempt to secure his release by force.
The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Homagama magistrate.
