The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a 31-year-old Belgian national at Katunayake Airport for allegedly defrauding over Rs. 63 million from an individual. The suspect had promised various construction projects but failed to deliver, leading to charges of breach of trust and fraud.
The CID initiated an investigation after the suspect's failure to fulfill commitments. Following their inquiry, the arrest was made on Monday (July 01) at Katunayake Airport.
Further investigations are being conducted by the CID Unit at Katunayake Airport.
