The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has reported that a severe drought has affected 946 individuals from 432 families in the Karachchi divisional secretariat of Kilinochchi district, located in the Northern Province.
Despite the significant impact on the local population, there have been no reported deaths or injuries linked to the drought.
In response to the crisis, authorities are distributing drinking water to the drought-affected areas to alleviate the hardship faced by residents.
