The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has announced the appointment of two new Deputy Governors, effective this week.
Assistant Governor and Secretary to the Governing Board A. A. M. Thassim and Assistant Governor J. P. R. Karunaratne have been promoted to Deputy Governors, effective June 20 and June 24, respectively.
The CBSL stated that the appointments were made by the Minister of Finance based on recommendations from the CBSL Governing Board, in accordance with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act, No. 16 of 2023.
Mr. A. A. M. Thassim brings over 31 years of experience at CBSL, having served in various capacities including Supervision and Regulation of Banking Institutions, International Operations, Communication, Payments and Settlements, Employees Provident Fund, Finance, Risk Management, Deposit Insurance, Security Services, and Information Technology.
