Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva has expressed his disappointment over the decisions made by the Sri Lankan team during the T20 World Cup, following their early exit from the tournament held in the United States.

Silva at an event in Colombo addressed the severe criticisms directed at the team and the cricket board after the team failed to qualify for the Super Eight stage.

“Our team didn’t make it to the Super Eight, but we have provided them with facilities comparable to the best teams in the world,” Silva stated.

The SLC President emphasized that the backlash he has received is as if he had participated in the tournament himself.

“Nobody understands the conditions of the pitches or the fact that some of the best teams were out of competition,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Silva noted that “SLC was not financially strong in the past, but now, thanks to a proper committee and management, we are among the fourth or fifth highest-earning cricketing bodies,” he added.
