Former Parliamentarian and actor Ranjan Ramanayake has been acquitted from a financial fraud case promising to marry a female teacher in Kandy.
The ruling was delivered by Kandy Chief Magistrate Chamara Wickramanayake.
The case, filed by the Kandy Crime Investigation Division, alleged that Ramanayake obtained Rs. 1 million from the teacher under the pretext of marriage.
This legal battle spanned over thirteen years.
