Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.


Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or night.

Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.

Winds:

Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph.

Wind speed may increase up to (60-70) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankasanthurai and Mannar and in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Wind speed may increase up to 60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Pottuvil to Batticaloa. Wind speed may increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from  Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.

State of Sea:

The sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be very rough at times. The sea areas extending from Pottuvil to Batticaloa can be rough at times.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle can be fairly rough at times.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive in this regard.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
