Three people were tragically killed, and several others injured in a collision between a van and a private passenger transport bus at the Wagama area along the Bibila - Mahiyanganaya road today.
The victims, reportedly members of the same family, were identified as a 75-year-old male, a 70-year-old female, and another female whose age has yet to be confirmed.
The incident occurred when a private bus, en route from Bibila to Kotagama, had stopped for repairs in front of a garage in the Wagama area, and a van traveling in the opposite direction collided head-on with the bus. Five injured passengers, including the van's driver, were rushed to the Bibila Hospital for treatment.
The remains of the deceased have been placed at the Bibila Hospital mortuary, and authorities have arrested the driver and conductor of the private bus for further investigation. Bibila Police are conducting inquiries into the tragic accident.
