The current rainy conditions in the south-western region of Sri Lanka are expected to intensify over the coming days, starting tomorrow, June 8th. 

The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating increased rainfall and potential severe weather across several parts of the island.

Showers are anticipated intermittently in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. Some areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, may experience heavy showers exceeding 50 mm.

In addition, the North-western, Northern, and North-central provinces are likely to see several spells of showers. Showers or thundershowers are also expected in a few places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

Strong winds, ranging from 40-50 kmph, are anticipated intermittently in the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
