A tree fell across the Colombo-Kandy main road near Warakapola town this morning, causing major traffic disruptions. The obstruction has halted traffic in both directions, leading to significant delays.
A police spokesman urged motorists to seek alternate routes while crews work to clear the debris. "Efforts are being made to remove the tree and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible," the spokesman stated.
Emergency teams are currently on-site addressing the situation. Commuters are advised to stay updated through local traffic reports and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
There have been no reports of injuries, and the cause of the tree fall is currently being investigated.
