Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has confirmed that the upcoming Presidential Election will proceed as mandated by the Constitution of Sri Lanka.
He assured that the election will be held on the date specified by the National Election Commission, dispelling any concerns over potential delays or disruptions.
In a recent statement, Prime Minister Gunawardena emphasized the importance of adhering to democratic principles and warned against creating unrest through unfounded claims. His comments come in response to the National Election Commission's announcement earlier in May, which set the election window between September 17 and October 16, 2024.
The National Election Commission has affirmed that all procedures for electing the President will follow constitutional provisions, ensuring a transparent and orderly electoral process.
