In the wake of severe weather conditions, more than 300,000 incidents of power disruptions have been reported, with a staggering 30,000 occurring within a single hour on some days, according to statements from the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Union (CEBEU).
In a press release issued by the CEBEU, significant delays in restoring power outages were highlighted, directly attributed to the recent adverse weather conditions. The union expressed regret over these delays, citing a shortage of technical staff available to address the widespread issues.
Furthermore, the influx of calls has overwhelmed CEB telephone operators, resulting in many consumer inquiries going unanswered.
The union has emphasized the importance of public patience and caution during such circumstances, advising against any contact with live wires during outages. Meanwhile, technical teams are diligently working to restore power as swiftly as possible.
The CEBEU urges the public to remain vigilant and cooperative as efforts continue to mitigate the impact of the ongoing power disruptions caused by the inclement weather.
