Matheesha Pathirana, a promising talent from Sri Lanka, was sold to the Colombo Strikers for an impressive US$ 120,000 at the ongoing player auction for the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024 cricket tournament.

The auction kicked off in Colombo today, marking the second consecutive year of the auction format for Sri Lanka's premier domestic T20 league.

Charu Sharma, who has previously been involved in LPL player drafts, is serving as the auctioneer for the event. 

The 2024 auction consists of 18 rounds, with nearly 420 cricketers up for bidding.

Among these players, 154 are from Sri Lanka, while the remaining 266 are international players.
