The Road Development Authority (RDA) has issued a special advisory for motorists traveling on the expressway due to prevailing adverse weather conditions. 

Drivers are requested to maintain a maximum speed of 60 km per hour to ensure safety.

Heavy rainfall has affected more than 19,000 people across seven districts, including Ratnapura, Kegalle, Anuradhapura, Kandy, Galle, Kalutara, and Puttalam. 

Currently, 4,786 families are reported to be impacted, with 32 houses partially damaged and 1,140 individuals relocated to safe locations.

The Meteorological Department forecasts more than 150mm of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in the Western and North-Western provinces. 

Besides, the Sabaragamuwa province, along with the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Mannar, may experience heavy rains exceeding 100mm today.

Landslide early warnings remain in effect for several localities in the eight districts of Badulla, Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, and Ratnapura due to the ongoing heavy rains.
