The Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industries is introducing drone technology for pesticide application in paddy fields across 15 districts this Yala season.
These districts, including Hambantota, Monaragala, and Ampara, are set to benefit from this innovation.
Under the leadership of Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera, this initiative aims to reduce costs and boost efficiency.
The cost of drone pesticide application is significantly lower at Rs. 978 per acre compared to the Rs. 7500 per hectare incurred through manual labor.
The Government plans to expand this program to all 25 districts in the upcoming Maha season.
This modernized approach not only promises increased yields but also ensures the safety and well-being of farmers.
