The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has announced the suspension of two constables for possession of methamphetamine (ice).
The officers were arrested by the anti-corruption unit of the Kompannaveediya Police. One was found with 130 milligrams of ice near a bar on Kumaran Ratnam Road in Kompannaveediya.
During questioning, it was revealed that the suspects were serving constables in the CID.
Police stated that they will seek a report from a judicial medical officer to determine if the other constable, who was present during the arrest, is also addicted to drugs.
The Kompannaveediya Police are conducting further investigations.
