Sri Lanka Customs detected a large consignment of crystal methamphetamine, also known as 'Ice,' valued at around Rs. 100 million, which arrived in a parcel from Guatemala via airmail.

The drugs were found concealed inside a car engine part (pulley) in the parcel, which was sent to a bonded cargo warehouse attached to a courier service in Seeduwa.

The parcel was addressed to a 25-year-old farmer from Jayanthipura, Polonnaruwa. Narcotics Control Unit officers opened the parcel in front of the recipient when he arrived to collect it.

Sri Lanka Customs officials apprehended the suspect after detecting the drugs concealed inside the parcel.

The consignment, weighing 3 kilograms and 101 grams, is estimated to have a street value of around Rs. 100 million, according to Sri Lanka Customs.

The seized drugs and the suspect have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.
