An official delegation from the Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Ministry is set to embark on a visit to New Zealand from April 22nd to 25th, with the primary agenda of overseeing matters related to the opening of the Sri Lankan High Commission in Wellington.

Led by Pradeepa Saram, Director General of the Overseas Assets Management and Development Division of the Foreign Ministry, the delegation will engage in a series of meetings with officials from New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, along with other relevant agencies and stakeholders.

The visit follows the approval in January by the Sri Lankan Cabinet of Ministers of a proposal put forth by Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry to establish a High Commission in Wellington. This move underscores the growing importance of bilateral relations between the two nations.

With a significant Sri Lankan expatriate community in New Zealand, primarily comprising professionals and students, the establishment of a resident Mission is expected to enhance outreach efforts and foster closer collaboration in various sectors including trade, education, sports, science and technology, tourism, and health.
