The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has announced plans to take disciplinary action against MP Prof. G.L. Peiris and other members who recently signed an agreement with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
These MPs, originally elected to Parliament under the SLPP banner, later defected from the party and assumed opposition seats. Recently, they formalized their allegiance to the main opposition by signing an electoral pact with the SJB.
Following deliberations at its executive committee meeting, the SLPP has resolved to initiate disciplinary proceedings against these individuals for entering into an agreement with another party while holding elected positions under the SLPP ticket in the previous election.
