The Anuradhapura District MP representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), H. Nandasena, breathed his last today at the age of 69 following a sudden illness.

His demise has left a void in the political landscape, as he was recognized for his dedicated service and contributions to the community.

Nandasena's political journey was marked by various roles, notably as a former provincial minister and a member of Padaviya Pradeshiya Sabha and the North Central Provincial Council. However, his tenure faced a tumultuous turn in May 2017 when he was ousted from his ministerial position for his attendance at a Joint Opposition May Day rally.

Undeterred, Nandasena continued his political endeavors and contested the 2020 parliamentary elections as a candidate of the Sri Lanka People’s Freedom Alliance in the Anuradhapura District. His victory secured him a seat in the esteemed Parliament of Sri Lanka.
