A special operation aimed at cracking down on underworld criminal activities resulted in the arrest of 38 gang members. Eleven more suspected criminals associated with underworld gangs were apprehended yesterday as part of this operation.
The police and the Special Task Force (STF) initiated the special operation, known as the 'Yukthiya' initiative, targeting 20 identified organized criminal gangs across the country. This operation was launched in response to the escalating organized criminal activities observed in the Western and Southern Provinces.
Among the arrested individuals are members of notorious underworld gangs such as 'Kudu Anju,' Dematagoda Chaminda, Kanjipani Imran, Keselwatte Dinuka, Ladiya, and Kosgoda Sujee. The police said that the suspects are currently under detention for further interrogation.
