One person was killed, and 37 others were injured in a bus accident in Peradeniya. The accident occurred as a bus was traveling from Nelligala to Pundaluoya at Yahalatenna in Peradeniya.
The bus was transporting a group of devotees who were returning from a visit to the Nelligala International Buddhist Center. Reports from the police indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to slide down a 15-meter slope and collide with a tree.
The injured individuals, including the bus driver, were rushed to Peradeniya Hospital. Unfortunately, a 79-year-old passenger succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The deceased was identified as a resident of Halpola, Pundaluoya. Two other passengers who are in critical condition have been transferred to Kandy General Hospital for further treatment.
Peradeniya Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
