A foreign tourist had been trampled to death by a wild elephant at Manachchena in Komariya in Potuwil.
Investigations revealed that the 50-year-old Italian tourist Ginchino Paulo, with another Italian tourist had been riding on motorcycles in Komariya area when he met with accident.
The injured had been rushed to Potuwil base hospital by 1990 ambulance service only to be pronounced dead.
The body was dispatched to Ampara general hospital for postmortem examination.
