The Mullaitivu Police apprehended the driver of a tipper truck on Thursday evening (14 March) following his failure to adhere to a signal to halt at a police checkpoint in the Oddusuddan area.
The Oddusuddan Police said that both law enforcement officers and members of the Special Task Force (STF) managed to stop the tipper truck by resorting to shooting at its wheels, asserting that the driver in question had posed a threat to the safety of police personnel during the incident.
The suspect is set to appear before the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court for further proceedings.
