The police has disclosed alarming statistics regarding shooting incidents occurring across the island since the beginning of the year up to March 12th.
According to Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa, a total of 30 shooting incidents have been reported, resulting in a devastating toll: 21 fatalities and 14 injuries.
Of significant concern is the revelation that 17 out of the 30 incidents were orchestrated by organized criminal gangs, indicating a disturbing trend of organized violence.
In addition, DIG Thalduwa said that the remaining 13 incidents stemmed from personal disputes.
