The Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved President Ranil Wickremesinghe's proposal to establish a "Children of Gaza Fund," aimed at providing crucial aid to victims of violence in Gaza.

In a move to prioritize humanitarian assistance, all Ministries and Government Institutions have been instructed to forego Ifthar celebrations and instead contribute to this newly created fund.

The President's Media Division (PMD) disclosed that the government has pledged a donation of US $1 million to kickstart the fund. This substantial contribution will be channeled through official UN agencies to ensure effective distribution and targeted support for affected children in Gaza. The initiative underscores Sri Lanka's commitment to providing much-needed relief and solidarity to those impacted by conflict in the region.
