The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night welcomed the arrival of Iran's Foreign Affairs Minister, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, along with a delegation of twenty high-ranking officials, marking the commencement of a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.
The Iranian delegation, including Minister Abdullahian, journeyed from Tehran, the capital of Iran, aboard a special government flight, IRAN 05, touching down at the BIA to a warm reception. Their visit comes at the invitation of Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabri.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya, alongside a delegation of dignitaries, greeted Minister Abdullahian and his accompanying officials at the Katunayake Airport special guest lounge, highlighting the significance of the diplomatic ties between the two nations. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation across various sectors.
Scheduled to depart on the 21st of February, Minister Abdullahian's visit underscores the mutual commitment to fostering diplomatic dialogue and collaboration between Iran and Sri Lanka.
