Prominent world figures conveyed their warm wishes to Sri Lanka on the occasion of its 76th Independence Day. 

The President’s Media Division (PMD) revealed that a diverse array of leaders, including His Holiness Pope Francis, King Charles III of the UK, US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian President Droupadi Murmu, were among those who extended their heartfelt congratulations.

Joining the chorus of well-wishers, Emperor Naruhito of Japan, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Yun Suk Yeol of South Korea, and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore, among others, conveyed their congratulations to Sri Lanka. The list also featured leaders from diverse regions, such as President of Libya Dr. Mohamed Y. AL-Menfi, Governor General of Australia General David Hurley, the President of Pakistan, President of Bangladesh, and the Emir of the State of Kuwait.
