A 31-year-old woman, who claimed to be the daughter of a retired DIG of Police, has been arrested for assaulting a female police sergeant after shouting obscenities and behaving violently.
According to police, the incident occurred when a group of police officers was traveling from Matara towards Gandara in a three-wheeler, and the luxury jeep driven by the suspect woman collided with their vehicle.
Upon stopping the luxury car and questioning the driver, the suspect asserted her lineage, stating she was the daughter of a senior DIG, and implied that her identity would be recognized within two days. She also claimed to work as a lawyer in Australia.
Allegedly, the suspect woman then assaulted a female police sergeant when she attempted to arrest her on suspicion of riotous behavior.
