A soldier, who had gone missing from the Dombagoda army camp in Horana, was discovered deceased under mysterious circumstances.
Police said that the soldier's body was found in a pond within the military camp premises.
They said the victim was identified as a regular soldier of the 7th Ordnance Corps, a resident of the Ethili Wewa area.
The search operation was initiated by the Army after the soldier failed to attend a physical exercise demonstration last Sunday.
Investigations into the matter are being carried out by the Aguruwathota police.
