The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a suspect, Jayampathi Aluvihare (age 49), who had warrants issued for 12 High Court cases and 7 Magistrate Court cases while hiding as a monk at a meditation center.
Since 2003, the CID received money fraud complaints against the suspect, leading to the investigation and filing of 19 cases to the court. The suspect initially appeared in court for these cases.
However, he later disappeared and was arrested by a team of CID officers while hiding in the Polgahawela area.
There are 12 high court cases against the suspect in Colombo, Avissawella, and Homagama courts, and 7 pending cases in the Magistrate's Court in Kaduwela, Homagama, and Aluthkade courts.
The arrested suspect is scheduled to be presented in court regarding these cases.
