After assessing favorable hydroelectric storage and profits earned during the year ending December 2023, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) directed the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to submit a tariff proposal
Subsequently, the PUCSL received the CEB's end-user and bulk supply tariff proposals for January to March 2024 on January 16, 2024. Despite the Commission's request for clarifications from the CEB, the information is still pending.
In compliance with Section 30(3) of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act (SLEA), the Commission aims to consult stakeholders on the proposed tariff structure and associated costs. The process will be initiated promptly to ensure the timely implementation of the tariff revision.
Any additional analysis by the Commission, based on new information submitted by the CEB, will be uploaded to the Commission's website during the stakeholder consultation period.
Stakeholders are invited to provide comments on the CEB's proposed forecast costs for 2024 and the proposed tariff structure (3.34% reduction). The CEB has specified that all comments should be submitted on or before February 12, 2024, in writing via email, fax, or post. An oral consultation session is scheduled to be held on February 15, 2024, in Colombo.
