The three minor hospital staff members, who were arrested by the Galle Police over alleged assault on Krishantha Perera, the Onco Surgeon at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, had been remanded till January 29. The order was issued by the Galle Magistrate’s Court after the arrested suspects were produced before the court today.
Police arrested the staff members after a complaint made by the concerned specialist doctor to the Galle Police on January 17.
Accordingly, a 52-year-old female health assistant and two 45-year-old and 43-year-old assistants were arrested.
The Onco Surgeon who was alleged to have assaulted a female hospital staffer during a contentious situation that erupted at the hospital premises on last Wednesday was arrested and remanded until 22 January by the Galle Magistrate’s Court.
