Jaffna District Parliamentarian S. Shritharan has emerged as the new leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), following the party election held today, as confirmed by an Ada Derana reporter.
This significant development marks a transition in leadership from Mavai Senathirajah, who previously held the position.
ITAK, a key constituent party of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), has played a crucial role in representing Tamil interests in the political landscape. The change in leadership signifies a shift in the party's direction and strategy under the guidance of S. Shritharan.
Shritharan's political journey includes his successful participation in the 2010 parliamentary election as part of the Tamil National Alliance electoral alliance in Jaffna District.
His subsequent re-election in both the 2015 and 2020 parliamentary elections underscores his sustained support and presence within the political sphere.
