A total of 987 suspects were apprehended during the 24-hour island-wide operation 'Yukthiya,' which concluded in the morning.
Among them, 663 individuals were arrested for drug offenses, while 324 suspects, listed in Crime OICs of police stations, were also detained.
The seized quantities of various drugs are as follows:
- 270g of heroin
- 140g of ice
- 18kg and 358g of cannabis
- 27,242 cannabis plants
- 552g of Mawa
- Madana Modaka 175g
- 1,080 narcotic pills
Out of the 638 suspects involved in drug offenses, 12 individuals are undergoing further investigation under detention orders. Additionally, five suspects were arrested for illegal assets, and 14 drug addicts have been referred for rehabilitation.
Also, 14 suspects from the Police Narcotics Bureau and Police Special Bureau lists were arrested.
Among the 324 suspects referred to the criminal division, 90 individuals had open warrants related to drug offenses, while 222 had open warrants linked to non-drug offenses.
The operations also resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals identified through fingerprints, and one suspect wanted for other crimes was also arrested.
