The photos of individuals defrauding people's money will also be included in the facial recognition camera system installed at the airport.
Acting IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon stated that the police have already compiled a list of over 1,000 criminals wanted for various crimes in the country.
Mr. Thennakoon emphasized that incidents related to financial fraud are a serious matter in all parts of the country. "We will also include photos of individuals defrauding people's money in the facial recognition camera system. This step is taken to control the migration from the country by individuals of small financial companies that collect money invested by the people after accumulating a large amount of money," he said.
"Accordingly, within the next month, in relation to the complaints received by the police, the photos of people involved in such fraudulent activities will also be included in our facial recognition system."
The Acting IGP mentioned that once the photos are included in the system, individuals won't be able to travel through the airport and will be arrested by the Criminal Investigations officers at the airport.
