Following a temporary closure due to flooding, the main entrance of Yala National Park at Palatupana has been reopened to the public, as confirmed by Assistant Director of the Uva Zone Wildlife Conservation Department, Upul Indrajith.
The closure was prompted by an emergency disaster situation declared at Yala National Park, caused by the spilling of minor irrigation tanks leading to the inundation of entrance points.
In response, Wildlife officials and the army collaborated to repair the main road network within the park.
The repair efforts have been successful, and the park is now accessible to visitors.
