The Maligakanda Magistrate's Court issued an order preventing the Inter-University Students' Federation (IUSF) from causing inconvenience to the public during their planned protest march scheduled for this evening, January 17.
The court directive specifically prohibits university students associated with the IUSF from entering key thoroughfares in Colombo, including Deans Road, Kularatna Mawatha, T.B. Jayah Mawatha, and several others. The restriction aims to prevent any disruption to motorists and pedestrians during the anticipated protest.
The court order, issued against seven IUSF members, encompasses its convenor Madushan Chandrajith and Ven. Galwewa Siridhamma Thero. The decision comes in response to concerns about potential disturbances and aims to maintain public order during the demonstration.
The IUSF, a prominent student organization, has been vocal on various issues affecting the student community.
