In a sweeping nationwide operation spanning from yesterday (16) to the morning of today (17), Police have arrested a total of 1,024 suspects under the 'Yukthiya' Police Operation.

Further investigations are underway, with detention orders issued for 13 suspects, while 8 drug addicts have been referred to rehabilitation centers for necessary intervention.

The joint efforts of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Special Task Force have resulted in the arrest of 45 individuals listed as Island Re-Convicted criminals.

Also, 325 suspects from a list provided to crime OCIs (Officer in Charge) have been arrested.

Among those arrested, 92 suspects face open warrants for toxic drug offenses, 211 suspects for other non-toxic drug offenses, and 11 wanted suspects who have been identified through fingerprints.

Police said significant drug seizures were made during the operation, including:

- 227 g of heroin

- 168 g of ice

- Cannabis weighing 8 kg 40 g

- 13,892 cannabis plants

- Mawa totaling 227 g

- Madana Modaka amounting to 24 g

- 647 narcotic pills
