Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry Mahinda Amaraweera says that the government has decided to reduce the price of a bundle of tea fertilizer to Rs8,500.
He also said that since the price of a bundle of fertilizer used for tea is between 12000 to 14000 rupees, many growers do not use fertilizer for tea cultivatibon.
Minister announced this after a discussion held by a group of tea growers in the Galle district.
Due to the higher price of tea fertilizer, the amount of leaves harvested from an acre of tea has decreased to 216 kg.
