Amidst escalating tensions in the health sector, all non-doctor employees are set to stage an island-wide strike on Tuesday, January 16, announced the Paramedical Services Front (PMSF).
Upul Rohana, President of the association, disclosed that this symbolic protest involves coordination with 27 trade unions within the health sector.
The unrest follows a series of strikes initiated by paramedical and supplementary health services' unions protesting the government's decision to raise the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance for doctors.
Hospital services faced disruptions last week, with professionals engaged in token strikes, impacting patient care and services. The situation remains tense as various healthcare unions continue to voice their discontent.
