The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is set to present its proposals for electricity tariff revision to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) today (12), according to CEB spokesman Noel Priyantha.
Addressing the media, Priyantha emphasized that the final decision on the tariff revision would be disclosed by the PUCSL, following the prescribed procedures. He highlighted the PUCSL's authority in determining the tariff adjustments and stated that public consultations, mandated by the PUCSL Act, would precede the announcement of the final decision.
"The PUCSL possesses the authority to review our proposal and make the ultimate decision. Through public consultations, the PUCSL will gather feedback, make necessary adjustments, and ultimately reveal the final tariff revision," Priyantha explained.
The spokesman hinted at potential benefits for general electricity consumers falling within consumption brackets of 0 to 30, 30 to 60, and 60 to 90, suggesting that these groups might see the most significant impact from the proposed tariff revision.
