Senior lawyer Kaushalya Nawaratne secures another term as President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), being re-elected uncontested for the 2024-2025 term.
Chathura Galhena is elected uncontested as the BASL's Secretary.
Incumbent BASL Secretary Isuru Balapatabendi is set to step down after completing his two-year term.
The official induction of the new BASL President and Secretary is scheduled to take place at the 50th Convocation of the association on March 23, 2024.
Nominations for the roles of BASL President and Secretary for the 2024-2025 term were accepted on January 10 by Solicitor General Indika Demuni de Silva, PC.
Mr. Nawaratne, seeking a second term as BASL President, and Mr. Galhena, running for Secretary, were elected uncontested as no other nominations were received, according to the BASL.
