Professor D.M.S.S. Lakshman Dissanayake officially took on the responsibilities as the newest member of the Election Commission.
This appointment comes after President Ranil Wickremesinghe, in adherence to the recommendations of the Constitutional Council and in accordance with Articles 41(a) and 103(1) of the Constitution, selected Prof. Dissanayake for the crucial role.
The announcement was made through a press release by Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Ratnayake, underscoring the formal inclusion of Prof. Dissanayake in the Election Commission. The Commission, which oversees and manages the electoral processes in the country, now comprises the following members:

Mr. M.A.P.C. Perera – Member
Mr. Ameer Faaiz – Member
Ms. Anusuya Shanmuganathan – Member
