In a weather update, the Meteorology Department has forecasted an intensification of rainy conditions in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Central, and Southern provinces over the next two days.
Cloudy skies are also expected to prevail across most parts of the island during this period.
Showers are predicted to occur intermittently in the mentioned provinces, including the Polonnaruwa district. Additionally, Anuradhapura district is expected to experience several spells of showers.
Other regions can expect showers or thundershowers after 1:00 p.m., with the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces likely to witness morning showers.
Notably, heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are forecasted in certain areas of the Eastern and Uva Provinces, as well as in Hambantota district.
The Meteorology Department has issued a public advisory urging residents to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
