The Cabinet of Ministers has greenlit President Ranil Wickremesinghe's proposal to double the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance for government doctors.
The approved increase raises the allowance from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 70,000, aiming to enhance the financial well-being of medical professionals serving in the public sector.
Moreover, the President's Media Division (PMD) has reported that university teachers are set to benefit from a substantial 25% raise in their study allowance. This increase is slated to be incorporated into their January salaries, marking a positive development for educators within the university system.
