More than 25,000 tourists visited the island in the first four days of this year alone, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. Specifically, 25,619 tourists arrived from January 1st to the 4th.
The largest contingent of tourists, numbering 5,060, originated from Russia, followed by 3,333 tourists from India. Additionally, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority notes that a significant number of tourists have arrived from Germany, Britain, Australia, China, France, the Netherlands, and the United States.
In the past year, a total of 1,487,303 tourists visited the island. Projections for the current year indicate an expected increase to 2.3 million visitors.
