Automated facial recognition system launched at BIA for crime prevention

Public Security Minister Tiran Alles inaugurated the Automated Facial Recognition System at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today. 

The system aims to identify and apprehend criminals attempting to flee the country.

Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakon emphasized the need for such technology, revealing that 42 criminals had escaped the country in the past after committing crimes.
