The chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Limited (AASL), Chaminda Athula Galketiya, has ordered 28 leaders from the Joint Trade Union Alliance at Katunayake Airport to take compulsory leave.
This decision follows allegations that the union leaders attempted to disrupt air services by sending letters to airlines connected to Sri Lanka.
Stressing their lack of legal or moral authority for such actions, Galketiya has announced a formal investigation into the matter. Until the investigation concludes, the union leaders are prohibited from entering any AASL premises.
