The Sri Lankan government has decided to elevate its diplomatic representation in New Zealand by establishing a High Commission in Wellington, aiming to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
As of now, Sri Lanka maintains a Consulate in Wellington.
The resolution to upgrade this representation was proposed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry, and has received approval from the Cabinet of Ministers during their first meeting of the year held on January 1, 2024."
